The Steinberg Systems precision paint thickness gauge is capable of measuring in the range from 0 to 1400 μm with an accuracy of ±2.5% + 1 μm. The device is designed to work on both flat and curved surfaces. This is thanks to the V-shaped tip, which ensures a minimum measurement area of 20 mm, 5 mm for convex surfaces, and 25 mm for concave surfaces.
The tester has many functions, including test mode, measurement method, and measurement unit (μm, mm, mil). The device also allows you to save up to 320 results, and thanks to the mini USB port, you can save them to a computer hard drive. The meter is designed to operate at temperatures ranging from 0 to 50°C and relative humidity of 20–90%.
The device is easy to use thanks to raised buttons and a backlit LCD screen. Testing can be performed in two ways: spot testing or continuous testing. The first method involves placing the meter on a specific spot, while the second involves dragging the tester across the surface being tested. The spring-loaded probe ensures safety during measurement, without the risk of scratching the paint. An audible signal indicates when the test is complete.
The tester comes with the accessories necessary for its proper operation. These include: a USB cable, a CD with software, and calibration plates. With the help of the calibration plates, the user can ensure the meter’s precise operation on their own. Additionally, a convenient carrying case makes it easy to transport the entire set.
The device is powered by two 1.5 V AAA batteries. A special system turns the tester off when it has not been used for 3 minutes, which helps extend battery life.
