Simply place a section of the braid against the solder, heat it with a soldering iron, and then remove it using tweezers or an IC popper.
The thin layer of rosin coating on the desoldering braid makes it resistant to oxidation. Its high absorbency is due to the copper weave. The desoldering tape wound on the spool is 1.5 m long.
